Webkinz announces Pet Day, Sunday May 3
Saturday, May 2nd, 2009Webkinz Bat: My new very own Webkinz pet
Monday, September 29th, 2008I got my own Webkinz bat today. I have been playing Webkinz with my daughter’s account for over a year but today I decided to get my own account so I could keep up with the latest in Webkinz world better, experience care of a pet first hand and not have to worry about messing up my daughter’s webkinz world.
The bat is so cute. Here is a photo:
We are thinking of names for him. Here is our brainstorm list for Webkinz Bat names:
- Velvet
- Darky
- Blood Dorcula
- Midnight
- Weeny (Short for Halloween)
- Bloody
- Fruity
- Smiley
- Toothy
- Bob
- Fuzzy
- Blacky
- Fang
- Dracula
- Count
- Night Shade
- Demon
- Obsidian
- Black Hole
- Godzilla
I decided to go with Fang since it reminds me of a Jack London book I like.
My daughter has decided that she wants the bat, so I made an agreement with her that if she finished a book I want her to read by the end of the week, she can have the bat and I will get a different new Webkinz pet.
I saw the Cocoa DInosaur webkinz at the store today and I think that may be my next choice. Here is a photo:

Some names we thought of for the Webkinz Cocoa dinosaur are:
- Cocoa
- Chocolate
- Dino
- Deeno
- Raspberry
- Little Foot
- Spots
- Scales

New Webkinz Marketing Plan: Buy Virtual Stuff With Real Money
Friday, September 5th, 2008Ganz Webkinz has done it again and set up an online store where Webkinz stuffed animal owners can buy virtual items for thier online pet with real money. Here is an example of a type of item from the eStore:
Animated Items
To use these items you must have an account in Webkinz World. These items cannot be sold back to the W Shop, traded or sent via KinzPost.
The items for sale cost a whopping $4 to $10…almost as much as a Lil Kinz. Previously, Ganz has made purchases of Webkinz items a way to get extra kinz cash and bonus virtual items: you had to buy real Webkinz stuffed animal clothes, Webkinz trading cards and Webkinz charms that come with a code that unlocks extra kinzcash and bonus items. Now they have made it even faster for Webkinz owners to spend extra real cash to buy special items that other owners cannot buy by earning Kinzcash by playing games.
My daughter, of course, wants to buy the special items, but so far has not used any of her allowance to do so. Since she plays Webkinz with her friends often, having a special item online is almost as good as having a real item in terms of envy rights.
I guess the purchases go to good use paying for more fun games at Webkinz world. I know my daughter often loves these games more than any other she plays online or off.
Webkinz Parakeet: New pet for November 2008
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008I just learned that the Webkinz Parakeet is due out in November. You can buy a Webkinz Parakeet here when they are available.
The Parakeet is an example of another type of pet that you can actually get at the real pet store. My daughter and I were discussing yesterday which was better, exotic Webkinz or “regular pet” Webkinz. She said the regular pet Webkinz, such as dogs, cats, and birds, were boring. She preferred the exotic pets, like manatee, bat and toucan.
I pointed out that regular pets were good since they allowed kids to get the feel of having a kind of pet they wanted that their family did not have. She agreed and realized she wanted a Webkinz cat.
Give your Webkinz virtual pets an eternal life
Monday, September 1st, 2008I just found out the way to make your pets live online for more than a year. The key is to only make one Webkinz account and keep adding new Webkinz adoptees to your account over time. At the minimum, you need to add a new one before a year is up on your first one.
My daughter found this out accidently by creating two accounts with her first two pets. She was inconsolable when it first happened and now I can see why. Her pink pony Webkinz has moved on to virtual pet heaven. I guess she can buy a new Pink Pony Webkinz and add it to her collection of 9 animals. One more and she gets a bonus for having 10. Someone at Ganz is a marketing genius!!
Webkinz at Nordstroms & Lil Kinz Hummingbird is cute
Sunday, August 31st, 2008My daughter and I went to Nordstroms today for back to school shopping. We found out they even were selling them there! At the Hallmark store, they had a buy one item get a second one (of the non-popular Webkinz) at half off. I guess Webkinz went a little wild with bringing out new items this summer. I think they are getting better with the more exotic and cute animals now though.
One really cute item is the Lil Kinz Hummingbird. My husband is obsessed with hummingbirds and feels they bring good luck. Maybe the webkinz hummingbird will bring good fortune to it’s owners.
My daughter now has 9 webkinz plush toys including the Webkinz Clydesdale and the Pink Pony.
Webkinz coming out fast and retiring fast
Friday, August 29th, 2008Wow…I was just adding the new webkinz from the beginning of the summer to my Ganz Webkinz store and realized that some of them are retired already! I have been busy keeping my Webkinz loving child busy all summer and so had not had much time to update my site. I keep up with webkinz news with the Google blog email system, so I knew a lot was going on, but having the snake retired already??? I guess Ganz Webkinz finally figured out that a small supply creates demand.
My daughter and I went to look at Webkinz in person today and they really have a nice selection. She was eager to get the Webkinz bat, which I guess is the Halloween offering, but they did not have them in stock yet. She settled for 2 horses and a webkinz toucan. She is a horse nut so she has 4 webkinz horses in all now.
I originally limited her to 5 webkinz, telling her that she could not care for more. She has become very adept at caring for virtual animals now that she is 10, even enlisting help from her friends (not always a good idea since one of them changed the password when she was in a fight with her….luckily she could use the Webkinz secret code to get back in and change the password again), so I told her she could buy as many as she could afford. I told her the virtual animal cops would come and get her if she did not care for them. She is old enough to get my jokes now, fortunately.
